Permanent magnets as clamping devices to increase efficiency.

In toolmaking and similar operations, workpieces made of steel and iron with very small dimensions and complicated shapes often have to be machined. The safe and proper clamping of the workpieces often causes difficulties and normal magnetic clamping plates are often unsuitable for small or very thin parts due to large pole distances.

The classic areas of application for the clamping block include optical workshops, measuring and testing laboratories, the watchmaking industry, precision mechanical production facilities, the miniature ball bearing industry and general toolmaking.

The clamping block is suitable when

• Workpieces must be clamped with high repeat accuracy
• Dimensional checks are necessary during workpiece machining
• small and thin objects must be stored in position to prevent tipping
• the machining process of a workpiece should run quickly
• wear-free operation and operational safety without energy supply is desired

Clamping blocks are produced in three sizes and two material grades. Types 103201 to 103204 in hard ferrite and types 132700 to 132702 in samarium cobalt. Compared to the standard hard ferrite version, the clamping blocks with samarium cobalt have twice the holding force and are therefore particularly suitable for workpieces that are difficult to clamp.

Tridelta’s permanent magnetic clamping block consists of many closely spaced poles. This gives workpieces that are too taut a secure hold even with the smallest wall thicknesses and can counteract shear forces, for example during grinding.

Individual recesses enable special clamping surfaces of profiled parts.

For easy cleaning of adhering iron particles, a rubber wiper is sufficient.
