Hysteresis clutches

Suitable as a holding coupling to transmit movements without slippage.

Hysteresis clutches

The special feature of hysteresis clutches is that they also generate a braking force when stationary. This makes it particularly suitable as a holding coupling.

When the maximum force to be transmitted is reached, power is transmitted with cogging-free slip without exceeding it.

Advantages/Properties

  • wear-free, since contactless
  • de-energized
  • fail-safe
  • low maintenance
  • sustainable
  • no follow-up costs
  • High torque even at low speeds
  • noiseless

Versions

Tridelta supplies various dimensions with different torques directly from stock. Shafts and bearings must be provided by the customer.

Field of application:

  • Screw-on machines (bottle caps, screws)
  • Labeling machines,
  • Winding voltage and speed control

Industrial sectors:

  • Food
  • Pharmacy
  • Chemistry

Features:

  • Mechanically adjustable desired torque
  • The maximum braking torque can be adjusted by selecting the material for the magnetic and hysteresis disk
  • Standard torques up to 5 Nm

Fixed torque

Field of application:

  • Screw-on machines (bottle caps, screws)
  • Labeling machines
  • Winding voltage and speed control

Industrial sectors:

  • Food
  • Pharmacy
  • Chemistry

Features:

  • Precise, stable, smooth, even adjustment
  • Braking torque can be changed using spacers between hysteresis disk and magnetic disk (requires opening the housing)
  • The maximum braking torque and the installation space can be adjusted by selecting the material for the magnetic and hysteresis disk
  • Standard braking torques up to 35 Nm

Tridelta offers permanent magnetic clutches with torques of up to 35 Nm as standard. We can also develop and implement customer-specific solutions.

Application area

The hysteresis coupling is suitable if a constant torque is to be transmitted to rotating parts over large speed ranges, even at low speeds. Hysteresis clutches are contactless and therefore wear-free.

Functionality

In the hysteresis clutches manufactured by Tridelta, a non-magnetized hysteresis disc faces a permanently magnetic disc. The material combinations can be varied depending on the application and the desired torque.

The torque is fully available even at very low relative speeds. As the relative speed increases, the torque increases slightly due to a superimposed eddy current component. At very high speeds (typically > 1000 rpm), the torque can reach double the value compared to standstill.

There is a small air gap between the panes. If necessary, the torque can easily be regulated by adjusting the air gap between the hysteresis disk and the magnetic disk.
